I’m just reading your comment about the offer rate – are you saying that a school like Latymer Upper will offer up to 25-30% of applicants assuming some won’t accept?
I would be interested to know the ballpark number of pupils for each prep school eg Bute House has more classes than Glendower for example so it’s not really a like for like comparison when you list out no of offers – % of offers would be more helpful.
Hi Yulia, yes that is correct, LU offers to about 25-30% of applicants. If you consider that those who apply to LU and are offered there usually also hold offers by St Paul’s / Godolphin & Latymer / City, you can imagine why they need to over offer.
Numbers at each prep school: about 55-60 at Bute House, 35-40 at Kensington Prep / Glendower, 20-24 at Falkner House. You can find this information when you look at individual leavers’ destinations published by the schools.
How many candidates are there for each school? Thanks
It’s not particularly meaningful as most candidates apply for 5-6 schools so it is all the same people. You can have as many as 10 candidates per place offered, especially at the co-educational schools. At some schools it is “only” 5 candidates per place. But the overlap is huge so the offer rate is far higher than the candidate numbers suggest.
The offer rate at Latymer Upper is around 25-30%. Slightly lower for SPGS, higher for most other schools (usually 30-40% at the more selective schools and as high as 80% for the less selective schools).
