This year’s results have brought some welcome changes to league tables, which have mostly been dominated by the usual suspects in recent years. One sensational success story has been Michaela Community School, a new comprehensive free school in Brent, which has helped students, many from disadvantaged backgrounds, achieve some of the best results of any non-selective state secondary school in the country. West London Free School in Hammersmith has also reported record results, giving those campaign for a return to more traditional education a rare boost.
In the independent sector, it is Latymer Upper that has done especially well this year, as it overtook Highgate and Alleyn’s to become the highest performing co-educational secondary school in London. Given the fierce competition for 11+ places at the school, this has been expected by many, but it is nonetheless excellent to see co-educational schools performing so well.
The new GCSEs, which are now graded 9 to 1 rather than A* to G, have less coursework and a greater focus on exams at the end of two years. Just 837 teenagers scored a clean sweep of the highest grade in their GCSEs this summer, up from 732 16-year-olds in 2018, figures from Ofqual show. 29 of these attend NLCS, while Westminster reported 76 students with a “clean sweep”.

Thanks v much for this list. I am slightly perplexed that rhe table may not be comparing like for like between state schools and private schools when they do not necessarily sit for the same GCSEs. Many private schools sit for IGCSEs which are less demanding as they require completion of fewer papers for the same subject as compared to GCSE. E.g 2 papers under IGCSE for History as compared to 3 papers for GCSE? Can you kindly throw some light on this please?

Ricards Lodge did not publish detailed results yet. Rutlish did not publish % of grade 9-8 or 9-7 yet, either. They would likely be somewhat below some of the highest performing comprehensives (West London Free School, Waldegrave etc), results will be updated in November.

they are just behind at #55 currently – still most likely the highest performing comprehensive school in London. Just a lot of grammar schools and selective private schools ahead.

Merchant Taylor and Maths School are missing.
King’s Maths School only has a Sixth Form, there are no GCSE results (no Year 11 group). You will find the Maths school in the A-level results table. Merchant Taylor is in Hertfordshire so not technically London, although it can be included here.
